2. delete dota 2 from your pc via steam. to do this, right click on your dota 2 within the steam library and click delete local content. make sure that your dota 2 is fully uninstalled. 3. paste the copied dota 2 beta folder to your pc and make sure that it replaces your pcs current dota 2 folder (if the folder is still present). 4. on your pc. Right click on dota 2 in your steam library and click on dota 2 properties and validate the game. wait for a few minutes and you’ll see that steam started downloading dota 2. let this download run for few minutes, so that steam can create / download basic structure to install dota 2.. Go to your steam "library", right click on dota 2, and select "delete local content" now open up windows explorer and browse through the steam folder location. copy your friends dota2 folder (or dota 2 beta) into steamapps/common/ now head back to steam and try to install dota 2 again. steam should automatically verify existing game content.. Hi, i tried to copy paste dota 2 from my friend, without any luck, i couldn't make it work properly, i tried installing dota 2 and made a steam library, made it install for 1-2mins. then placed the "dota 2 copy" in the common folder. after that steam made me dl a 3.5gb update which i would not like to deal with..
